There is no ...ing : 「～ができない」 この構文は何か悪いことが起こるのではないかというニュアンスがあるような気がします。There is no telling what may happen. （何が起こるか分からない）は、It is impossible to tell what may happenと同じだといわれますが、It is impossible...の場合には「悪いことがおこりそうだ」というニュアンスはないようです。ですから、戦争になるのではないかは分からないといったような場合はThere is no telling...でしょう。There is no telling when an earthquake may hit us, so you all have to be prepared for the worst consequences. (いつ地震に襲われるかわからない。だからみんな最悪の場合に備えておかなければならない)　「とても」をいれるとnoの感じが出てくる気がします。There is no stopping her. (とても彼女を止めることができなかった) I think there is no stopping illicit kidney transplants. (違法腎臓移植を食い止めるのは無理かもしれません)
